Recap Chapter 7: Isha says “yes” to Neerav, triggering balcony-wide applause from nosy neighbours. Yamini scrubs her burnt pan while imagining a tragic saas-bahu future. Later in Pune, Isha warns her parents that they might not approve of Neerav after all.
The girls’ living-cum-dining room looked like its usual chaotic self. Yamini was glued to her phone, Akash was fiddling endlessly with his camera, and Neerav was massacring zombies on his video game.
“Okay, we’re having dinner at the Oberoi tonight,” Yamini announced grandly.
“Cool,” Neerav said. “You footing the bill?”
“No. We’ll go dutch.”
Akash nearly dropped his camera. “Are you mad? I can’t afford a five-star.”
“Fine. Then we’ll just have coffee. Now hurry up, let’s go.”
Akash and Neerav exchanged confused looks.
Just then, the front door opened and Isha walked in with a small suitcase and backpack.
“Ishu’s back!” Yamini squealed, running to hug her.
“Ishu, we’re going to the Oberoi to meet Sunil Waghmare.”
“We are?” Isha raised an eyebrow at Akash and Neerav. They both shrugged helplessly.
“What are you on about, Yammu?”
Yamini flashed her phone at her. “I just got a message from Sunil. It showed his location –Oberoi. I know he’s staying there. We have to go immediately and catch him.”
“Okay, calm down. Let me at least freshen up.”
“Fine. But hurry!”
Twenty Coffees Later…
The four of them sat in the centre of Oberoi's plush restaurant, surrounded by twenty empty cups of coffee. They looked bored out of their souls – except Yamini, who jerked her head towards the entrance every time a shadow moved.
“Yammu, please,” Neerav begged. “Let’s just go.”
“No, no. He’ll be here any minute. Okay… fine. One last round of coffee and then we leave.”
Akash pulled out the insides of his pockets. “Sweetie, we don’t have money anymore.”
“Just one more cup,” she pleaded.
Neerav dug out the remnants of his pocket change and placed them on the table. Isha added some coins of her own. Neerav began counting the pitiful heap.
“Uff,” Yamini muttered. “What chindi friends I have.”
A waiter arrived with the bill, saw the mountain of coins, and looked at them with the same pity one gives orphaned puppies.
“I’ll pay the bill,” he said gently. “And here’s some tip for you.”He added a few more coins to their sad little pile.

The four stared at each other, mortified, then burst out laughing. The moment the waiter walked away, Akash and Neerav grabbed the coins and stuffed them back into their pockets with lightning speed.
Yamini shook her head. They were incorrigible.
“Yammu,” Isha asked, “why is it so important to meet him today?”
“Because that bitch," Yamini clenched her jaw. "That Bejal… she told Sunil that I want to be an actor.”
“OMG!” Isha yelped. “She told him that? She needs the electric chair.”
Yamini shot her an offended look.
“He’s going to think I’m some wannabe trying to suck up to him.”
Isha smacked her forehead.
Akash frowned thoughtfully. “Which production house is he with now?”
“Moonrock,” Yamini replied.
Akash’s expression brightened. “Moonrock Productions… hmm. I think I know someone there. Don’t worry – I’ll arrange for you to meet him on the sets. Leave it to me.”
Akash stood up.
“Really? You can do that?” Yamini flung her arms tightly around him.
Akash froze. Isha and Neerav stared at the unexpected embrace, equally stunned.
Yamini giggled, shrugged, grabbed her handbag and said, “C’mon, guys. Hurry up. Let’s go.”
Banerjee Household: MasterChef Edition
The next morning in the Banerjee kitchen, Neerav paused mid-stride. There stood Mr Banerjee – in lungi and vest, boiling water with deep concentration.
“Baba? You in the kitchen?” Neerav blinked. “When did you leave your Bhaigiri to do Baigiri?”
Mr Banerjee waved a spatula like a weapon.“Your mother thinks I’m useless. She has challenged me to make breakfast. I’ll show her!”
He proudly dropped some eggs into the boiling water.
“So what’s on the menu?” Neerav asked, fascinated.
“Exotic boiled eggs with golden crunchy toast and Tropicana orange juice.”
“Very good, Baba. Can’t get more extravagant than that.”
Neerav leaned in. “Don’t you think you should stir the eggs?”
“Stir?” Mr Banerjee looked confused.
“Yeah, if you don’t keep stirring constantly, only the bottom half will get cooked.”
“Oh, right.”He patted Neerav’s back. “I’m glad I have a son who cooks.”
“Yeah, right,” Neerav muttered.

While Mr Banerjee stirred the eggs with the seriousness of a neurosurgeon, Neerav tiptoed to the kitchen door and silently summoned his mother.
“He’s cooking boiled eggs,” he whispered.
Mrs Banerjee clamped a hand over her mouth to stop laughing. The maid, seeing them giggle, abandoned her broom and joined the peeping audience. Soon, even Akash arrived and stood behind them, grinning.
“Tussi great ho, Uncleji,” Akash muttered, taking a photo.
The camera click made Mr Banerjee whirl around. Everyone burst into uncontrollable laughter.
He stood there, utterly clueless.
“If you’re done with the cooking,” Mrs Banerjee said sweetly, “take care of your lungi. It’s about to fall off.”
Mr Banerjee grabbed the ends of his lungi, tied it tightly, and stormed out.The family scattered, still laughing.

Few days later, as Yamini sat in the balcony, tapping through her phone, Isha stepped out beside her – draped in an old-fashioned Banarasi sari and heavy jewellery, looking like she’d walked straight out of a wedding album.
