Recap Chapter 15: Neerav takes over the kitchen with flair, while Akash quietly admits that he's in love with Yamini. Meanwhile, wedding conversations with the Banerjees reveal Isha’s growing place in the family, along with the expectations that come with it. Elsewhere, Yamini waits on a film set.

When Dreams Walk In and Sit Next to You

A few minutes later, Sunil Waghmare swaggered into the room.

He dropped into the reclining chair next to Yamini and leaned back, closing his eyes. The exhaustion showed. Not the tiredness of boredom, but the kind that came after giving everything to a scene.

Yamini’s face lit up instantly.

She stared at him. Openly. Unashamedly.

OMG. He was good looking. Not just good looking – very good looking. At least a hundred times more than he looked on screen. He had to be as tall as AB. If not taller. Aur kya toh doley-sholey. Ufff.

“Sir, Yamini Kadam, here to see you,” said Sampat, the assistant director.

Sunil didn’t open his eyes. “Who?”

“A fan, sir.”

He turned his head and opened his eyes. His gaze fell on Yamini.

“Ohh. Hi.”

“I’m Yamini… we’ve chatted a few times… on Facebook... Messenger.”

“We have?”

“Yummilicious Yamini?”

A faint smile touched his lips.

“Ahh. I remember. Yummilicious Yamini. A name like that, how could I forget?”

Yamini grinned. She was hyperventilating.

She picked up the gift bag she had brought and held it out to him.

And dropped it.

The bag slipped from her hand and hit the floor. The delicate vase inside shattered into three neat pieces.

Yamini stared at it, horrified.

“I wanted to give you something that would last longer than flowers,” she said, her voice breaking, “but it ended up being shorter.”

Sunil sat up.

“Don’t worry, Yami,” he said in a soothing voice. He bent down, picked up one of the pieces and examined it. “I have this golden kintsugi glue. Do you know what that is?”

Yamini shook her head.

“It’s a Japanese technique,” he said. “When I stick these pieces together with that golden glue, it will look even more beautiful. And original. No one else will have the exact same piece.”

“Really?”

“Yeah.” He pulled out his phone and showed her a few images. “Like this.”

Yamini leaned closer, studying the pictures.

“Ohh… that is so cool,” she said, instantly back to her usual spunky self.

Then, suddenly aware of herself again, she straightened. “I hope I’m not keeping you from anything.”

“No, don’t worry,” he said, leaning back. “My co-actor’s late. No shooting till Her Majesty arrives," he said with a shrug.

“Well, we can carry on,” said Sampat, stepping in, “if your friend here agrees to help us.”

Yamini blinked. “Me? How?”

“Shot is of hero and heroine shaking hands for the first time. We need close-ups of their hands. If you agree to be the heroine’s hand double, we can proceed.”

Yamini stared at him.

Then at Sunil.

Then back at him.

“Yes,” she said quickly. “Yes… of course yes.”

Sunil handed the gift bag with the broken vase to him. “Sampat, please keep this very carefully in my green room.”

In the adjoining room, the camera, lights and props were being adjusted.

Yamini and Sunil took their positions in front of the camera.

“And… action.”

Yamini extended her hand.

Very slowly, Sunil took it in his and squeezed it gently.

Yamini got a glazed faraway look in her eyes.

Soft golden lights flickered around them. A gentle breeze lifted a loose strand of her hair. Sunil looked at her, a playful glint in his eyes, and began to sing –

“Chittiyaan kalaiyaan ve, o baby teri white kalaiyaan…”

Yamini lowered her gaze shyly, her lips curving into a smile as she responded –

“Jaane do na… paas aao na… choo o na, choo o na…”

“Cut.”

The director’s voice brought her back.

Yamini blinked.

Ohh... Right. She was on a film set.

“Good job, Yummilicious Yami,” Sunil said, letting go of her hand.

Yamini blushed and looked at her hand.

A little later, when she was about to leave, Sunil said, “Would you like a selfie?”

“OMG!” Yamini slapped her forehead. “How could I forget?”

He took her phone, clicked a picture, then looked at it.

“Oh no, your eyes are closed. Sampat, can you take one?”

Sampat took a few pictures.

This time, Yamini made sure her eyes were very much open.

Sunil then picked up a glossy still from his latest film lying nearby, signed it, and handed it to her.

'For Yummilicious Yamini,' it said.

Yamini took it carefully, as if it might vanish if she held it too tightly.

Then he leaned in and gave her a hug. Carefully. Almost as if she might break. Like a fragile porcelain doll.

Yamini felt something inside her melt all over again.

Such a gentle hug.

From such a tall, strong hunk.

Ufff.

A few moments later, she was walking out of the set, clutching the autographed picture and her phone, her mind still trying to catch up with what had just happened.

Right Hand, National Treasure

Isha was painting a chair she had designed, her focus entirely on getting the final strokes just right, when the door burst open.

“Ishuuu!”

Yamini flew into the room and wrapped her in a tight hug.

“I feel as though I have wings.”

“Told you not to have Red Bull,” Isha replied.

“Very funny.”

“So how was he?”

Yamini pulled back, her eyes shining. “He’s awesome. Dripping with charisma. I so want to marry him…” She sighed dreamily. “You know, he called me Yami. It sounded so intimate. And the director called me Sunny’s friend, can you imagine?”

“Wow,” Isha said, unimpressed. “One meeting and Sunil becomes Sunny.”

Yamini grinned and blushed.

“Lemme show you the pics.”

She opened her handbag with her left hand and took out her phone with the same hand.

“You’ve hurt your right hand?” Isha asked.

“No silly. Sunny touched it.” Yamini held up her right hand reverently. “My entire right hand is going to star in his forthcoming movie. I’m not going to use it or wash it for a whole week… or maybe ever.”

“That’s a biohazard.”

“He’s amazing.”

“Yeah, yeah. You’ve said that like a hundred times – Sunil is amazing, he’s delicious, I want to marry him…”

“Not Sunny. Akku.”

“Akash?”

“Yes! It was he who took care of everything. If it hadn’t been for him, I would’ve never been allowed on the sets. I love him.” Well, of course she didn’t love him. But she couldn’t get over how adorable he was... how he had moved mountains just to get her to meet Sunny.

Isha rolled her eyes and got back to her work. A couple of strokes later, she stepped back to examine her handiwork. Satisfied, she clicked a few pictures for the catalogue.

When Priorities Collide

The Banerjees and Isha were in the Mall. Exhausted after their shopping spree, they sat in a restaurant, sipping cold drinks, bags of shopping strewn around them.

“I’m spent,” Mrs. Banerjee declared.

“Me too,” Neerav said.

Isha stared at her phone.

“Ishu?”

She looked up. “The job I applied for… they’ve invited me for an interview.”

“But that’s brilliant,” Mr. Banerjee said at once.

“It’s on Ma’s birthday.”

“Oh, that’s going to be a problem,” Mrs. Banerjee said.

“You go,” Neerav said. “I’ll have an extra drink in your honour.”

“No, no,” Mrs. Banerjee protested. “All my friends are coming just to meet her.”

“I’ll tell them I can’t make it,” Isha said.

“Don’t be ridiculous,” Mr. Banerjee cut in. “You can’t blow up an opportunity like this. We’ll postpone the party.”

“You can’t do that!”

“Of course we can.”

He raised a mischievous brow at his wife.

“If I can stop eating fish, if I can stop wearing a lungi, surely you can postpone a silly birthday party?”

Mrs. Banerjee glared at him.

“Baba, you wear lungis?” Isha asked, matter-of-factly.

“Yes, I love...”

“Okay, let’s not digress,” Neerav said. “So Ma, it’s settled. You’re postponing the party, right?”

Mrs. Banerjee sighed. “I s’pose.”

“You’ll do that?” Isha asked, still unsure.

“Well, your dream job is more important than…” She shot her husband a look. “Than a ‘silly’ birthday party.”

Isha leaned forward and hugged her.

“Thanks Ma.”

Aur kya toh doley-sholey. Ufff.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well sunil was a nice guy, but yamu feels starstrucked, though she believes akku is amazing so i s'pose she wont face dilemma of 'whom between sunny and akku i love more' i hope so.

I was gonna give credit to neer's cooking in last chapter that yamu had so nice day with sunny, but idk if she ate his buttery food or not.

Loved the isha and Mrs bannerjee bonding scenes. I wonder what she has thought of actually marrying neer? She was in dilemma and was stressed out, or did i forget anything?
